Friday 11 November 2022
11am, Walking with Ghosts launch and 2 minute silence. Folkestone Harbour Arm Station.
The ghosts began their 84-hour march at the moment when, in 1918, the First World War came to an end. Around fifty people, including Gurkha veterans joined us at the Harbour Arm, where so many departed for war, to reflect and remember.
12-2pm: Mapping a Scriptorium. Fourth Wall Folkestone.
Led by Sarah Carpenter, with Folkestone Academy students and Safe Skate. Using Tony Walsh's poem Mightier than War, we worked together to create a Scriptorium that mapped our ideas about the legacy of war.
Saturday 12 November 2022
12-2pm: Falling between the Cracks, mapping walkshop. Fourth Wall Folkestone. (Deaf Friendly)
Participants joined us to find out about Quipus (knot work), explore creative mapping using weaving and poetry and weave our own ropes. Led by Elspeth Penfold.
2pm: Indoor Walk. Fourth Wall.
An indoor walk using the contemporary Ukrainian poem by Boris Khersonsky, 'Every hut in our beloved country is on the edge'. Led by Elspeth Penfold.
6.30-7.30pm: Women Came Out: A Night Walk. Meet at Fourth Wall Folkestone.
Around 20 participants joined us on a night walk to the Harbour Arm lighthouse, via the immersive artwork, and using poetry and backyard astronomy to guide us.

12pm: So It Goes, writing workshop. Fourth Wall Folkestone.
This writing walkshop explored Folkestone and the impact of war through mapping and edgeless poetry. It was led by Michal Piotrowski of Some Cool Words.
2-3pm: Walking with Poetry. Meet at Fourth Wall Folkestone.
Following the writing workshop we set off on a poetic walk, to the artwork at the Harbour Arm. Led by Michal Piotrowski.
Monday 14 November 2022
12-4pm. Timeless walkshop. Fourth Wall Folkestone.
In this workshop we learned how to make and use pacer beads working with ropes and knots. The walkshop used extracts form T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land with readings at different speeds by Virginia Fitch.
1-2pm. Timeless walk. Meet at Fourth Wall Folkestone.
Led by members of East Kent Mencap, we learnt how to count our steps and mark our pace using pacer beads. A walk through the Walking with Ghosts artwork on the Harbour Arm.
